WHEAT Community Connections has been a vital source of support for Clinton and the surrounding communities since 1982. Now a direct-service program of the United Way of Tri-County, WHEAT helps individuals and families facing food insecurity and financial hardship through its Community Cupboard food pantry, Community Café, case-management services, seasonal assistance programs and Hidden Treasures thrift store.
WHEAT’s impact extends well beyond providing groceries. The organization prepares fresh lunches and dinners five days a week, delivers meals to local senior housing, helps residents access SNAP, fuel, utility, healthcare and housing assistance, and provides school supplies, Thanksgiving meals and holiday gifts to families in need. Its pantry serves approximately 4,400 households across Clinton, Berlin, Bolton, Lancaster and Sterling, while distributing more than 500,000 pounds of food and 60,000 prepared meals annually.
